The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a short-range program that identifies transportation projects to be implemented in the WAMPO region during the next four years. These projects are programmed by Federal Fiscal Year (FFY, October 1 through September 30). All projects in the WAMPO region that use federal transportation funds and/or have regional significance area required to be included in the TIP.
The TIP is one of many tools used to implement the goals of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) 2035. Click here for additional details regarding the MTP 2035.
NEW! 2014 TIP Information
The 2014 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Call for Projects Application Period is now open from Thursday, April 11, 2013 and will run until 5:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2013. During this Call for Projects Application Period, project sponsors may submit applications for their transportation projects to be included in the 2014 TIP (which covers a 4 Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) period, 2014 to 2017). The FFY runs from October 1st to September 30th.
This is also the opportunity for project sponsors to apply for WAMPO Competitive funds (Surface Transportation Program “MPO-STP”, Transportation Alternatives “MPO-TA”, and Congestion Management & Air Quality “MPO-CMAQ”). All projects that receive federal transportation funds must be included within the TIP and identified in the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) 2035 Eligible for Funding List. Regionally significant projects should also be included within the TIP to identify transportation projects that may have impact on region’s transportation system.
Project sponsors with projects in FFY’s 2014, 2015, and/or 2016 of the 2013 TIP will receive an e-mail this week containing a link to access the 2014 TIP database with their projects pre-loaded. Project sponsors will still be required to update funding information and to verify information is still valid for any projects they intend to submit for inclusion in the 2014 TIP. WAMPO will not carry projects over from the 2013 TIP for project sponsors.
WAMPO will be holding the 2014 Regional TIP Meeting / Project Sponsor Workshop on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in order to answer questions project sponsors may have regarding the 2014 TIP application and project selection criteria, and to show how the application will need to be completed.
