The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a very important short-range planning tool that is required in order for the region to recieve federal transportation funds.
- The TIP documents and budgets transportation investments in the region; matching the region's available federal funds to transportation projects.
- The TIP identifies and lists all projects in the region that will use federal funds or have regional significance and will be implemented in the next four federal fiscal years (October 1 - September 30).
- The current TIP (2010 TIP) includes projects for federal fiscal years 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013.
- A new TIP is developed every federal fiscal year.
