Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are ways of implementing technology into the transportation network. ITS projects could be anything from on-board computers in vehicles to centralized management of traffic signal control. In order to use federal dollars specifically set aside for ITS projects, there must be an Intelligent Transportation Systems/Regional Architecture (ITS/RA) in place. This document provides a structure or framework for deploying ITS projects. The ITS/RA was approved on May 26, 2005 and was last amended on November 16, 2006.
