Regional Pathway System Plan

Adopted September 2007
Update:  Completed December 2011

The Regional Pathway System Plan (RPSP) identifies primary east/west and north/south corridors that connect most of the communities in the WAMPO region.  These regional corridors create a framework for biking facilities and help lay the foundation for identifying missing links.  The regional corridors can be looked at as a backbone system that connects existing and future bicycle/pedestrian facilities.

The vision for the region's transportation system that is identified in the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) 2035 is for a safe, efficient, accessible and affordable multimodal transportation system.  In an effort to get closer to that reality, WAMPO is updating the RPSP plan.  The intent of the update is to:

  • Update it with the most current information--including completed facilities;
  • Align it with the goals & objectives of the MTP 2035;
  • Determine if the corridors need to be adjusted;
  • Reevaluate the implementation strategies and prioritize the ones that are the most effective.
